Architects of Change.
‘Sydney is blessed with such a beautiful natural landscape. I feel like it inspires us to make sure our architecture just doesn’t get in the way of that.” Architect Nick Tobias has a distinct approach to designing and creating spaces that speak to their surroundings.
Co-owner of global firm Tobias and Partners, it’s fitting that Nick is the first subject of BresicWhitney’s content series, “Architects of Change: The Visionaries Shaping Sydney”. Shot on location in Nick’s Camp Cove family home – a place he calls a “complete expression of things that are meaningful to me”, Nick takes us on a journey of his surroundings and the design principles, the personality, and the passion that have crafted the place he calls ‘home’.
Eloquent reflections of what is Nick’s most personal project to date are highlighted in the film: ‘The architecture is both functionally and experimentally an expression of me, my creativity, my family, and I tried to take that very personal approach into everything that was designed,” he shares. Nick also explores the juxtaposition and curious interplay between masculine and feminine aesthetics, and pays homage to Sydney.
Marking the arrival of a series of profile films by BresicWhitney, ‘Architects of Change’ is a curated celebration of the life and work of innovators and leaders who have, and continue to, contribute to Sydney’s evolving cultural and design landscape, across various sectors.
