The year’s biggest Balmain East sale
It was the biggest sale to happen in Balmain East so far in 2019, and it wasn’t even advertised.
When the vendors at 98 Darling Street wanted to hit the market, the strategy was to only introduce buyers known to be looking in prestige price brackets.
It never went online. And the recent successes of Gilchrist Place and Ballast Point Road meant there were plenty of relationships to draw upon.
In collaboration between BresicWhitney agents in Balmain, Glebe, and Darlinghurst, 15 buyers were shown through the property, with four of them wanting to start negotiating. Two parties made formal offers and it sold for more than $4 million.
In the mix were local buyers, those crossing over from Glebe, and people on the hunt from Singapore.
The successful buyer turned out to be someone BresicWhitney had been in touch with more than five years. Once they decided to upgrade mid-2017, agent Melinda Antella had been helping them uncover suitable listings on a weekly basis.
The hunt for landmark properties is a slow burn for buyers. But with this sale happening in less than three weeks, it can deliver quick results for vendors.
That’s why we’re always encouraging both sellers and buyers to keep in touch.
